Please find useful information relating to your child’s return to school
Start of the day:
All children will enter school through the playground gate.
The school gate will be opened at 8.45am, Staff will welcome the children at the gate and they will proceed straight to their classes where the class teacher will be waiting to welcome them for the beginning of the school day. The gate will close promptly at 8:55am, if your child is going to be late, they will need to come through the office gate and be signed in.
Parents are welcome to come into our EYFS, Y1 & Y2 classes if they want to accompany their child(ren) on a Friday. This will give Parents & Carers and opportunity to see the children’s work displayed in the classrooms.
Children in Y1, Y2 & Y3 are expected to bring a pencil case to school containing supplies for school EYFS children will NOT need a pencil case.
EYFS, Y1 & Y2 children are provided with fresh fruit everyday through the Government scheme. Y3 children are encouraged to bring in a fruit snack. All children should bring a named water bottle to school each day, which can be refilled as required.
Children in Y1, Y2 & Y3 will come to school in their PE kit on the two days they have PE. Kit as follows – Y1 & Y2 white T-shirt, Y3 – St. Gildas’ PE top, plain dark shorts, joggers or leggings (NO logos or branding please) and PE shoes (plimsolls or plain dark trainers – no logos or branding). School jumpers and cardigans should be worn over the PE kit on these days.
PE Days
Y1 – Tuesday & Thursday Y2 – Monday & Thursday Y3 – Monday & Thursday
EYFS – Do not wear a PE kit but will need black pull on PE shoes (plimsolls) which will be kept at school in a PE bag on their coat peg.
End of the day 3:15pm for all classes:
The playground gate will be opened at 3pm each day. Parents & Carers will collect EYFS, Y1 & Y2 from the external classroom doors so will wait outside in those areas of the playground. Y3 children will be brought downstairs and into the playground so Parents & Carers should wait in the main part of the playground. Staff will dismiss children individually as they see each parent/carer. Class staff will only dismiss children to a known adult so please inform the office are there are alternative arrangements made for pick up.

The office is open between 8.30am – 4pm Monday – Friday.

Children will all exit through the gate on Dickenson Road. Gates will open at 3pm and parents are welcome to wait in playground for their child/ren. Class staff will only dismiss children to a known adult so please inform the office are there are alternative arrangements made for pick up.
When you see staff at the beginning or end of the day, it is an opportunity to have a few words with them and share essential information. However if you need to talk to the class teacher or any other member of staff in more detail please contact the school office and make an appointment for either a phone call or face to face meeting.
Please make sure that you inform the office if someone else is picking up your child to avoid upset and confusion.

Y1 – Y6 children will need to bring their own pencil case to school. Please see the full list of items, which we would ask your child to have in their own pencil case. Your child’s pencil will need to be kept in school and the items in it will be for your child’s use only.
Please ensure your child’s items are clearly labelled with their name and class.

Y3 to Y6 Parents – You are currently able to purchase handwriting pens (black or blue) from St. Gildas’. Purchases can be made via your child’s ParentPay account or via the school uniform order form.
Reception children will not be required to bring in a pencil case in September and will be provided with the stationery they require during the school day.

Swimming
Swimming takes place at Park Road Pool every Friday morning. Y4, Y5 and Y6 are allocated a term as follows.

Birthday Sweets:
Children are allowed to bring birthday sweets if they so wish. Children will be able to hand out a small bag of Haribo or Maoam sweets. No other sweets are permitted and if they are brought in, you will be asked to collect them from the office at the end of the day.
