Returning to School – Information

Home > Parents > Returning to School – Information

Please find useful information relating to your child’s return to school

Start of the Day

All children will enter school through the playground gate on Dickenson Road.

The school gate will be opened at 8.45am, Staff will welcome the children at the gate and they will proceed straight to their classes where the class teacher will be waiting to welcome them for the beginning of the school day. The gate will close promptly at 8:55am, if your child is going to be late, they will need to come through the office on Oakington Way gate and be signed in.

Parents are welcome to come into our EYFS, Y1 & Y2 classes if they want to accompany their child(ren) on a Friday. This will give Parents & Carers and opportunity to see the children’s work displayed in the classrooms.

Children in Y1 – Y6 are expected to bring a pencil case to school containing supplies for school  EYFS children will NOT need a pencil case.

EYFS, Y1 & Y2 children are provided with fresh fruit everyday through the Government scheme. Y3 – Y6 children are encouraged to bring in a fruit snack. All children should bring a named water bottle to school each day, which can be refilled as required.

Children will come to school in their PE kit on the two days they have PE. Kit as follows – EYFS, Y1 & Y2 white T-shirt, Y3 – Y6 St. Gildas’ PE top, plain dark shorts, joggers or leggings (NO logos or branding please) and PE shoes (plimsolls or plain dark trainers – no logos or branding). School jumpers and cardigans should be worn over the PE kit on these days.

End of the Day 3.15pm

Children will all exit through the gate on Dickenson Road. Gates will open at 3pm and parents are welcome to wait in playground for their child/ren. Parents & Carers will collect EYFS, Y1 & Y2 from the external classroom doors so will wait outside in those areas of the playground. Class staff will only dismiss children to a known adult so please inform the office are there are alternative arrangements made for pick up. Please make sure that you inform the office if someone else is picking up your child to avoid upset and confusion.

When you see staff at the beginning or end of the day, it is an opportunity to have a few words with them and share essential information. However if you need to talk to the class teacher or any other member of staff in more detail please contact the school office and make an appointment for either a phone call or face to face meeting.
