06 Mar Lighting our “Lenten Path” through art
In 4P we have been learning that this is the ‘Year of the Word’. Catholics all around the country are exploring the Bible and thinking about what the Bible means to us. In art we created our own versions of “Saints Jerome and John the Baptist” by Masaccio, created c.1428-9. We used poster paints and collage. St Jerome is important because he translated the Bible from Greek and Hebrew into Latin. These translations meant that for the first time ordinary people could understand the Bible. St Jerome’s translations have shaped the Catholic understanding of the Bible ever since.
