05 Mar Pendarren Day 4
It was group three and four’s turn to brave the cave today. We started our journey at the top of the mountain, just as it started to snow. We found the river’s source and followed it as its tributaries meandered down the mountainside, to the awaiting cave.
Once inside, our teams showed amazing bravery, friendship and resilience, as they helped each other to squeeze through tiny spaces and push through when it became challenging. The teachers were amazed by the compassion and care the children showed one another.
Groups one and two went to the beach today, and were much luckier with the weather! Some of the children found a cave, which they explored and then guided the teachers through. Naturally, it then became a goal post. A fun game of football began, along with searching the rock pools for creatures.
They then walked around the cliff side to the adjoining beach, which the children absolutely loved. They amused themselves on the coastal walk around, having a lovely chat about life and the world. It was then time to splash play in the sea, before returning to base.
Tonight we are experiencing a St Gildas’ Pendarren first; a campfire with marshmallows! We’re sure that it will provide the perfect setting to reflect on our week of adventure. We have all had a fantastic week – making friends, helping one another, pushing ourselves out of our comfort zones and most importantly, having loads of fun!
