03 Mar Pendarren Day Two
The sun came out again for our second day in Pendarren.
Groups 1 and 2 went on the river study today, in which you follow its tributaries from the source, through a cave and down to a waterfall. The children showed perseverance and bravery as they crawled through the caves and took on the infamous ‘letter box’ (every single child!). The weather was beautiful and sunny which made their walk to the waterfall even more enjoyable.
Groups 3 and 4 enjoyed canoeing and climbing today, being the first of our Pendarren groups (in Miss Clarke’s living memory) to zip line through Pendarren house’s beautiful scenery. After a wobble at the top (from the teachers, not the children), we loved zooming through the picturesque gardens. ‘This looks like a picture’ exclaimed group member. We then had a lot of fun landing in the mud and pulling each other back up through it!
Climbing and canoeing were the next challenges, with teamwork the key ingredient for success. Many children braved their way to the very top of the climbing wall, coached and cheered on by their friends, and a few group members even braved the canal’s waters.
We came back to warm showers, time to relax and a game of football in the grounds, before enjoying a nice dinner together. As I write, so do your children…so check the post soon!
‘Miss Clarke, this is the best time I’ve ever had’. I think that says it all.
