Romeo and Juliet
On Monday 10th February, year 5 had a very special visitor who came to deliver a workshop, to kick-start this years’ Shakespeare Studies. Coco’s mum, who once played Juliet herself and is a professional actor, came to St Gildas’ to deliver a drama workshop. We played fun warm up games and were enthralled by the way she retold the story of Romeo and Juliet.
We were then put into groups to study, rehearse and perform key scenes from the play, with acting and directing help, such as:
- The Prologue
- The battle scene between Tybalt, Romeo, Benvolio and Mercutio
- The balcony scene (from both Romeo and Juliet’s perspectives)
We had a fantastic time it was a really exciting way to start our Romeo and Juliet unit. A huge thank you to Kate, Coco’s mum, for sharing her time and expertise, we are very grateful.
